There’s nothing guaranteed to make you feel old than attending a high-school performance. Tonight I had the privilege of seeing Eden’s sister dance.
Where once I’d witnessed an awkward youngster, learning steps and finding her feet, the person I observed on stage had blossomed into a graceful dancer – full of confidence and expression. Eden and I sat in rapture at her talent, and those of her fellow troupe (including students who later performed hip-hop and bollywood numbers).
Having grown up in a city where a progressive high school meant girls played rugby, I was impressed at how sophisticated schools have become. Sitting in the audience with a 5yo and a 7yo, I couldn’t help imagine the potential brewing in their minds as they hung with the high schoolers.
